She received her B.S. in Biology from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and her Ph. She was a professor and researcher for more than twenty years at the Biomedical Research Institute of the UNAM. She contributed to the development of the Mexican Official Standard NOM-161-SEMARNAT-2011, on management plans for Special Handling Waste and to the formulation of the Municipal Regulation on Prevention, Integrated Management and Circular Economy of Waste for the Municipality of Landa de Matamoros, Querétaro published in 2020. Organized in 2018 the Forums on Circular Economy Strategies at the Local and Regional Level, in the City of Guadalajara and on Conservation Economics and Transit towards Circular Economy in Mexico, in the City of Querétaro.

Her work experience of more than 30 years has allowed her to be an expert in management of the efficient use of material resources and circular economy, in urban-industrial environmental management, urban planning with a territorial vision and protection of ecosystems, and promotion of Sustainable Cities. She has contributed to the generation of alliances for the governance of watersheds, water bodies, and protection of areas of environmental value. From 2019 to 2022 she was Undersecretary of Environmental Management, Climate Change and Energy Sustainability in Guanajuato; from 2014 to 2019 she worked at the German Cooperation for Sustainable Development in Mexico, GIZ, and from 2006 to 2012 she was Undersecretary of Environmental Promotion and Regulations at SEMARNAT.

She is a professor of sustainability, climate change and sustainable development at the School of Social Sciences and Government, and at the School of Engineering and Sciences of the Tecnológico de Monterrey, Mexico City Region. His recent projects focus on promoting the localization of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through projects, initiatives and multi-stakeholder collaborations with the public sector, the private initiative, civil society organizations and other educational institutions, as well as in the development of academic projects with a sustainability focus for students and teachers of the Tec de Monterrey. She has more than 20 years of experience, offering environmental services in terms of environmental impact in Large Infrastructure projects in Mexico and in countries such as France, the Bahamas and the Dominican Republic.

The work of the last 10 years has been in the design, development and evaluation of implementation projects at national scale, waste management: plastics, electronic and hazardous waste, such as Persistent Organic Compounds, through socio-technical approaches and business models, in countries such as Argentina, Brazil, Cambodia, Costa Rica, Cuba, Ecuador, Guatemala, Honduras, India, Indonesia, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Dominican Republic and Uruguay, among others. His experience as a consultant in waste management, eco-efficiency, materials recycling and environmental impact, extends to 30 years conducting more than 125 projects for governments, international organizations (UNDP, UNIDO, UNEP, FFEM, GIZ, SECO), and private industry, including for infrastructure development. His proposals have generated funding to implement projects in the countries for more than $60M. Former Director General of Waste of SEMARNAT.

He has more than 20 years of experience in the area of sustainability at an international level. She has developed her work in the USA, Mexico and Peru. In 2015 she received the Women in Sustainable Leadership award as one of the 20 women changing the sustainability landscape worldwide and in 2017 her company was recognized as one of the 30 business promises by Forbes magazine. In 2019 she is recognized with the Leadership Award by the USGBC. She is currently also President of the SUMe Board of Directors.
